Sports Premium.

St Mary of the Angels Catholic Primary School is passionate about creating sporting opportunities for our pupils. As a school, we once again gained the Gold School Games Mark in 2023-2024 for our outstanding commitment to school sport. At St Mary's, children have the opportunitity to take part in a huge variety of sports including football, netball, basketball, tag rugby, swimming, tennis and many more.

To ensure we can offer the best sporting opportunities to children, we utilise sports premium. The primary PE and Sport premium was introduced in March 2013 to improve the provision of physical education and school sport in primary schools across England. The funding is allocated directly to primary schools and may only be spent on improving the provision of PE and sport in schools. Schools have the freedom to choose how they spend their sports premium but must report on their use of this money yearly.

St Mary's are also the 2024-2025 winners of the Ellesmere Port and Hooton Parish Cup. This year marked the first annual football tournament between the four catholic primary schools in Ellesmere Port and our Year 5/6 football team managed to win two of their games and draw in one, resulting in St Mary's becoming the overall winners. We are so proud of the boys who took part and look forward to trying to defend our title with the local catholic primary schools in future.
