A Message From Mrs Postlethwaite and Mrs Kane .

Spring 2025

 

 

Welcome back to school we have so much to look forward to in the SPRING term. 

RE :  We will be learning about  the life of Jesus. We will be looking at the stories of his Baptism , the calling of his disciples and some of the miracles he performed.  We will be learning all about the importance of Lent and Easter.

English : We will be writing our own stories about a flying machine and diary enteries about events that have happened in the past . We will be learning how to edit our own work to improve it and check we have used the correct punctuation. 

Maths : We will be focusing on the properties of 2D and 3D Shape, money and multiplication and division. We will learn the value of coins and how to use them to make amounts and give change . We will learn how to use arrays to help us multiply and divide numbers and use our knowledge to help us solve problems.

Science:  We will be learning about the what animals and humans need to survive and investigating the life cycles of different animals and humans. We will learn how to keep ourselves healthy and how to eat a balanced diet.

Topic: In topic work we will be learning about the history of famous explorers such as Neil Armstrong, Christopher Columbus and Captain Cook. We will learn about the 7 continents and 5 oceans of the world and the different habitats found on each continent.

We will be learning to play a glockenspiel, make a moving vehicle  and create our own branching databases in ICT to sort information. We also have a fantastic trip to Liverpool planned where we will experience  travelling  by train and ferry and also investigate the history of transport in the Museum of Liverpool.

We hope you are excited as we are for the amazing learning journey we are going on together this term we are going to be lots of fun!

HOMEWORK in Y2

All homework will be given out on a Friday

Parents to mark with child using answers provided and feedback to teacher any issues with the task given if child is having any difficulties.

Reading- read every night for 10 minutes- records checked on Monday morning and phonics books changed on a Wednesday .

Spelling-   Spelling test will be on a Wednesday.

 

PE - Children need to wear PE kits on Wednesday and Friday
