Information

St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Primary School is a Catholic voluntary aided primary school in the Diocese of Shrewsbury, within Cheshire West and Chester Council. We're near Little Sutton village, close to the railway station, off Rossmore Road. We serve the parish of St. Saviour and St. Mary of the Angels, Ellesmere Port

We have about 210 pupils; with a warm Christian, family atmosphere, emanating from the Catholic ethos. The children are aged 4 to 11, taught in seven, single-age classes. We also have a pre-school, 'Little Angels', for children aged 2 to 4. 'Wrap around care' to help families includes a daily breakfast club & an after school club; as well as a Holiday Club, open from 8am to 6pm.

The original school was built between 1971 and 1973, but was deemed unsuitable some time ago; and so a successful bid to the Department for Education delivered a brand new school building, opened in 2007. It includes a preschool; parish & community centre; and many sustainable features, such as underground grey water recycling; and low emissions.

It is a superb teaching and learning environment, with high tech learning facilities, in every classroom.

Non-Catholic children usually participate fully in the religious life of the school, with the exception of receiving the Holy Sacraments of the Catholic Church. (The Bishop advises that children are most welcome to receive the Holy Sacraments if they have at least one committed, Catholic parent, to support them on their Sacramental journey.) We are also very inclusive; a community based school; and teach about other faiths regularly, such as Islam, Judaism and Hinduism, etc.

You're welcome to visit us! Our door is open!
