YEAR 1 - Mrs Wilson, Mrs Timmerman and Mrs Williams

Summer Term 2022

During the Summer term, Year 1 will become much more strutured, similar to the Year 2 class.  Children will continue to have the opportunity to learn through play, after they have completed their group work.  We are now able to work all at the same time!  We will still work in small groups, but some of these groups will have to work without an adult supporting their learning.

Spring Learning:

Our class topic will be focussed on learning all about the Castles, Kings and Queens!

In English, we will be using the text Toys in Space. We will be talking about the pictures to help us predict what might happen, talk about the characters feeling's and be writing longer sentences with capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.  We are also introducing question marks and exclamation marks!  We will also continue to practise letter formation and learn new sounds to help our writing.

In Maths, we will be covering introducing multiplication and division through making groups, sharing and drawing arrays.  We will continue our work on place value, extending from 50 to within 100 and comapring numbers using the <, > and = symbols.  We will also be looking at addition and subtraction within 50.

In Religious Education, our topic is The Resurection .  In this half term, learn about the Easter Story and Jesus rising from the dead and going back to his disciples.

In Science, our topic will focus on growing plants.  We have enjoyed planting radishes outside and grass for our Easter gardens.

We also have lots more exciting learning planned in PE, Forest School, Music, Art, Technology and Computing.

Our P.E day this half term will be a FRIDAY.
