WELCOME TO YEAR 2
A Message From Mrs Postlethwaite and Mrs Kane .
SUMMER 2022
We have so much to look forward to in the Summer term.
RE : We will be learning about Pentecost and how the Disciples helped spread the word to build our Christian Community .
English : We will be reading the Lost Wolf and Grandma's Secret Giant . These books will be looking at how we should care for our world and each other . We will be writing letters, diaries and descriptions of settings . We will be using all the skills we have been learning about this year .
Maths : We will be learning about measuring length, capcity and time and making sure we have all our key slills ready for year 3.
Science: We will be working hard to look after the bulbs, seeds and plants we have planted as part of our topic to investigate the life cycles of plants . We will also be observing the butterfly life cycle in real time and hopefully will be releasing them into our school garden. We will be investigating how plants grow in different habitats and how they are needed to keep food chains going.
In topic work we will be comparing living at the seaside and living in a town . We will look at how seaside towns have changed over time and how villages such as Port Sunlight were developed in our local area. We will be making cakes, sewing fabric fish , painting both with media and digital software and making clay models. We will continue to sing our hearts out every week and will be perfoming some of our songs at our school music festival later this term.
The most exciting part of the term is going to be our residential trip to Delamere Forest . We are so looking forward to all the activities including dam building in the river , comparing what lives in a pond and the forest and most of all a giant sleepover with all your friends !
