When Year 5 went on their trip to Weaver Hall, they carried out a materials
workshop. They investigated real artefacts from a Viking grave. The children
explored the different ways in which some of the materials had aged.
Year 5 have been learning about different types of forces such as gravity and air resistance.
This week, Year 5 carried out an investigation in to the positive effects of air resistance. They designed the 'perfect parachute' for a skydiving company. With a variety of materials, the children explored which parachute would be the most suitable.
What was your independent variable and dependent variable? What were your contolled variables?
They have also learned about Sir Isaac Newton. In groups they used a Newton metre to measure the weight of different objects in Newtons (N).
