Year 2. 2018 - 2019
WELCOME TO YEAR 2
The children have all settled down well and are showing themselves to be excellent role models for the children joining us in the infants.
This term our topic is TRAVEL. We will be learning about how transport has changed over time and in particular about the canal building history of Ellesmere Port. We will be studing maps to learn about the four countries that make up the United Kingdom and how we can travel between them.
We will be reading and writing stories about travelling and journeys. We will improve our writing by using adjectives to make it more exciting and learning how to join our handwriting. Some of the books we will share together are The Naughty Bus by Jan Oke, Journey by Aaron Becker and Snowy by Berlie Doherty.
In maths we will be securing our knowledge of place value so that we can use it to help us solve problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Together we will be discussing how we have been chosen by God to help spread his word to help and guide others. We will learn about special people such as MOSES and ABRAHAM and how their journeys through life were supported by GOD.
Our topics LIVING THINGS and FEEDING and EXCERCISE will help us to understand what humans and animals need to stay alive and in particular how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
All homework will be given out on a Friday
Maths- CGP book to be returned on a MONDAY
Reading- read every night for 10 minutes- records checked on Monday morning.
