Reception. 2018 - 2019

Miss Thwaite

Reception Class (EYFS2).

We have had another lovely and busy week in foundation stage 2. This week, as part of our topic on 'ourselves', we have been  learning about our bodies. We read 'Your amazing body' and made some people puppets.

The children have also been sharing their experiences of seeing the giants in Liverpool last weekend so we acted out the story of 'Jack and the beanstalk'.

Letters and Sounds

The children have been introduced to the 'd', 'g', 'o' and 'c' initial sounds of the phonics programme this week. They have been identifying objects beginning with these sounds and have been practising to write them as well.

The children played phonics bingo games and hunted for objects beginning with the sounds around the school!

This week we have been practising to recognise numbers to ten and beyond. We have also been recapping on 2d shapes. We have been practising to recognise them and have used them in order to create repeating patterns.

We also used apples to create patterns!

We hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday!
