Reception. 2018 - 2019
Reception Class (EYFS2).
This week we completed our topic on marvellous minibeasts by learning all about snails. We read a lovely book called 'Are you a snail?' and learnt lots of facts and made some play dough models.
We also created snail trails using paint and marbles.
Letters and Sounds
The children have been introduced to the 'ure' (cure), 'air' (hair) and 'er' (her) blends of the phonics programme. They have been investigating objects and words containing these blends and have been writing simple sentences using their phonic knowledge and tricky words to help them.

We are now using our phonic knowledge and tricky words in order to write sentences.
This week we have been practising to recognise numbers to twenty. We have also been exploring 2d and 3d shapes, recalling their names, talking about their properties and comparing them to everyday objects.
We have used 3d shapes to build models...
....and have hunted for them around our school.
